Children's Fest
The International Children’s Festival of the Arts is celebrating its 42nd year and will take place from June 1-4, 2023 in downtown St. Albert. The festival promises a world of wonder for children, families, and the young-at-heart, featuring an array of inspiring performances and activities that will provide countless awe-inspiring experiences. One of the main attractions this year is Architects of Air’s Daedalum Luminarium, an interactive art installation featuring a maze of inflatable tunnels that visitors of all ages can explore. It promises to be an immersive and unforgettable sensory experience of light, color, and sound.
The festival will host six feature performances by artists from around the world, including Doodle Pop by South Korea’s Brush Theatre, No Excuses, No Limits by ILL-ABILITIES, Seussical JR. by St. Albert Children’s Theatre, Leonardo! A Wonderful Show About a Terrible Monster, and more.
In addition to the international performers on stage, festival-goers can also learn Indigenous Ribbon Skirt crafting, explore the history of West African rhythms in Drum Speak, and hear marvelous Syrian tales through a magical wonder box. For younger children, Toddler Town is a one-stop-shop for storytelling, music, crafts, and self-guided sensory activities. The festival site will also be animated with engaging rovers, lively performances on the outdoor stage, and interactive activities along the beautiful Sturgeon River.
Through world-class programming in music, dance, culture, and theatre, as well as literary, visual, and circus arts, children and families can explore their boundaries and expose themselves to the big world of arts and ideas, limited only by the size of their imagination.
Public tickets are already on sale, with prices ranging from $10 to $30, depending on the type of ticket and the event. For example, weekend Butterfly Passes are the best value at $30 each, offering unlimited entry into paid activities, including Daedalum Luminarium, all weekend long, as well as one ticket to a feature performance.
